Subject: | "Drinking Water Week" Resolution |
In the near future, I will be offering a resolution recognizing the week of May 1 through May 7, 2016 as “Drinking Water Week” in Pennsylvania. We all rely on drinking water; using about 100 gallons per person, per day. While the U.S. enjoys one of the best supplies of drinking water in the world, recent events have brought greater attention to the quality of our water supplies. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a network of state agencies, local governments, and private water companies monitor water supplies and enforce standards to ensure that water is safe for human consumption. The intent of the resolution is to heighten awareness of drinking water and urge everyone in the Commonwealth to protect watersheds and conserve supplies of drinking water. |
