1Designating a bridge on that portion of S.R. 128 over Buffalo
2Creek, Freeport Borough, Armstrong County, as the Freeport
3Firemen's Bridge.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Freeport Firemen's Bridge.

7(a) Findings.--

8(1) Freeport Fire Department, which was established in
91916, provides fire and rescue services to Freeport Borough
10and surrounding municipalities in Armstrong County.

11(2) Freeport Fire Department acquired its first
12ambulance in 1941 and now provides the only emergency medical
13service to Freeport Borough and South Buffalo Township and
14shares emergency medical service responsibilities for Buffalo
15Township and Winfield Township.

16(3) Freeport Fire Department's 40 members have
17participated in countless lifesaving events and responded to
184,347 distress calls from community members between 2009 and

12011.

2(b) Designation.--The bridge located on S.R. 128 in Freeport
3Borough, Armstrong County, over Buffalo Creek is hereby
4designated the Freeport Firemen's <-Memorial Bridge.

5(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
6maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
7traffic in both directions on the bridge.

8Section 2. Effective date.

9This act shall take effect in 60 days.
