Subject: | RESOLUTION HONORING PENNSYLVANIA'S WOMEN VETERANS |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution honoring women veterans in Pennsylvania. Women have served honorably and with courage in all of America's wars and conflicts since the American Revolution, and the population of women veterans is only increasing. Given the unprecedented number of women currently serving in the military, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is working to extend uniform, comprehensive, and quality health care to all of our nation’s veterans, irrespective of gender. The roles of women in the military have changed drastically over the past few decades. In addition, as their roles and responsibilities continue to evolve within the realm of our armed forces, women veterans deserve to be commensurately acknowledged for their service to our country and accorded equal and due respect. Therefore, I ask that you please join me in formally honoring all of the women in our Commonwealth who have heroically answered their call to duty by recognizing the important role that our women veterans have played in shaping and protecting this great nation. If you should have any questions or concerns regarding this measure, please feel free to contact Fran Harris at (717)772-6955 or fharris@pahouse.net. |
