Subject: | Resolution Supporting Congressman Glenn Thompson's HR979 |
In the near future I will be introducing a resolution asking our federal delegation to support Congressman Glenn Thompson’s HR 979. Thompson’s HR 979 asks the US Department of Agriculture to allow forest products to be eligible for the USDFA’s Biobased Labeling and BioPreferred Programs. There is no specific language in the Farm Bill to exclude forest products but the USDA has interpreted it that way based on the “mature market” concept. Many of us have paper and cardboard companies in our legislative districts. These companies believe they will be at a competitive disadvantage if they cannot use the USDA labels. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to keep Pennsylvania companies competitive with the rest of the world.
