Subject: | Cosponsorship of a resolution to designate May, 2013, as “Celebrate to Live Month” |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the month of May, 2013 as “Celebrate to Live Month” to coincide with the upcoming Junior and Senior Prom season. This is an effort to raise awareness of the many risks and dangers that become a reality with each prom season. As many of you know, proms for many decades have been regarded as a ‘rite of passage’ for teenagers. My resolution is intended to raise awareness of the inherent difficulties associated with teen peer pressure to consume alcohol and use illegal drugs during high school prom celebrations. This resolution urges every teenager across the Commonwealth to enjoy this particular special night in a safe and responsible manner. I ask you for your support in spreading this much needed awareness. Previous cosponsors of this resolution during the 2011-2012 session were Representatives. Baker, Brownlee, Caltagirone, Cohen, George, Gingrich, Goodman, Hennessey, Kirkland, Kortz, Kula, Longietti, Mahoney, Mann, Marsico, Millard, Payton, Readshaw, Rock, Ross, Scavello and Sonney. If you should have any questions or concerns regarding this legislation, please contact Fran Harris at (717) 772-6955 or fharris@pahouse.net. |
