| MEMORANDUM TO: Members of the House of Representatives FROM: Representative Vanessa Lowery Brown DATE: October 10, 2013 SUBJECT: Co-Sponsorship: Resolution Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Walter Lomax Regrettably, as many of you aware, both the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has suffered a huge and harrowing loss in the recent passing of Dr. Walter Lomax. Renowned as physician, businessman, philanthropist, and a mentor to many (including myself), Dr. Lomax’s life and achievements has served as a beacon of hope for many within the African-American and ethnic minority community. Additionally, his desire to heal the afflicted, both literally and figuratively, is the hallmark of a man who was truly transformative in his actions and his very essence. While the family and many friends of Dr. Lomax will undoubtedly mourn the man who has meant and provided so much to many, I am privileged and honored to take this opportunity to underscore his extraordinary impact and accomplishments, and to do my part in ensuring that his legacy is enduring. Therefore, I would like to appeal to my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to please join me in recognizing and honoring the illustrious life and contributions of Dr. Walter Lomax.
