MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 12, 2012 10:51 AM
From: Representative P. Michael Sturla
To: All House members
Subject: Legislation to Establish Adopt-A-River Program

In the near future I will reintroduce HB 1214, which will establish the “Adopt-A-River” program within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The program will function similar to PennDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway Program. I believe that this legislation will help restore Pennsylvania’s rivers, spark an interest in volunteerism in our state and help conserve natural resources at a limited cost to citizens of the Commonwealth. Each individual or group that volunteers will be assigned a specific river or stream segment of their choice, if possible, and will be responsible for removing litter from the river.

The following members co-sponsored HB 1214 in the 2011-12 Session:
GEORGE, BEAR, BOBACK, BOYD, BRIGGS, BUXTON, CALTAGIRONE, CARROLL, CLYMER, D. COSTA, DENLINGER, FABRIZIO, GEIST, GILLEN, GOODMAN, GROVE, HARKINS, HESS, HICKERNELL, HORNAMAN, JOSEPHS, KAVULICH, KIRKLAND, KOTIK, KULA, MANN, MILLARD, MILLER, MURPHY, MURT, M. O'BRIEN, PAYNE, PAYTON, RAVENSTAHL, READSHAW, SANTONI, K. SMITH, TALLMAN AND WAGNER

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.
