Subject: | Pat Summit Resolution |
In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the life of Pat Summitt who passed June 28, 2016 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Pat Summitt was the coach of the University of Tennessee’s women’s basketball team, the Lady Volunteers. Throughout her 38 year coaching career, she became the winningest coach in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) history among both females and males. She also won 1,098 games, along with eight national titles, and made 31 consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament. Her accomplishments helped to spotlight and achieve national recognition for women’s basketball. In addition, Pat Summitt was a champion for Alzheimer’s research, starting the Pat Summitt foundation and the Pat Summitt Alzheimer’s clinic. I invite you to join me in co-sponsoring this resolution and honoring the life of Pat Summitt and her tremendous accomplishments. |
