House of Representatives
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 6, 2017 02:03 PM
From: Representative Donna Bullock
To: All House members
Subject: Co-Sponsorship: Resolution that recognizes the week of March 6 through 10, 2017 as “National School Breakfast Week” in Pennsylvania.

In the coming days, I plan to introduce a Resolution that recognizes the week of March 6 through 10, 2017 as “National School Breakfast Week” in Pennsylvania.

As many of you know, National School Breakfast Week is observed annually to increase student participation in the child nutrition initiative also known as the School Breakfast Program. The School Breakfast Program provides healthy breakfast options in age-appropriate serving sizes to more than 8.5 million children each school day. The Division of Food and Nutrition of the Pennsylvania Department of Education recognizes the value of adequate and proper nutrition for each child and administers the School Breakfast Program in our Commonwealth. Because the House of Representatives acknowledges the importance of childhood nutrition and the correlation between existing school breakfast plans and children’s focus on learning, it is for these reasons and more that I offer this Resolution.
