Subject: | Directing the Joint State Government Commission (JSGC) to conduct a study on prescription drug pricing |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation directing the Joint State Government Commission (JSGC) to conduct a study on prescription drug pricing and issue a report on their findings and recommendations to the General Assembly. Pennsylvania residents have experienced increased expenses for prescription drugs which too frequently results in their inability to pay. As a result, patients are not filling prescriptions, cutting pills in half, or skipping doses. Despite coupons offered by drug manufacturers to help lower the prices of prescription drugs, the costs still remain too high for many patients. As public servants, it is imperative that we examine ways to address such costs and help patients afford their prescriptions. Therefore, I hope you will join me in directing the JSGC to investigate this issue in an effort to create better oversight, transparency, clarity, and affordability in prescription drug pricing. Your consideration and co-sponsorship is encouraged and appreciated. |
