Subject: | Co-Sponsorship -- “National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month" and “World Spay Day” in Pennsylvania |
In the coming days, I plan to introduce a Resolution that will recognize the month of February 2018 as “National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month.” The Resolution also designates February 27, 2018 as “World Spay Day” in Pennsylvania. As many of you know, National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month highlights the important role of spay and neuter efforts in controlling animal overpopulation and improving the lives of companion animals. For instance, spaying and neutering animals effectively and humanely reduces the public health hazards and other costs associated with animal overpopulation that have plagued our communities. Finally, recognizing World Spay Day is of equal importance. World Spay Day is an annual campaign sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States, the Humane Society International, and the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association. This yearly collaboration helps to highlight and bring awareness of the impact of spay and neuter efforts and the necessity for affordable services to meet this need. With that said, please join me in co-sponsoring this Resolution. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office at (717) 787-3480. |
