Subject: | Resolution – Requesting a comprehensive assessment on Sunoco’s Mariner East 2 Pipeline construction |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution calling for a comprehensive risk assessment of the Sunoco Mariner East 2 (“ME2”) natural gas liquids pipeline. ME2 will transport natural gas liquids (liquid forms of ethane, butane, and propane) from a shale region in western Pennsylvania across the full width of the state, to a refinery complex at Marcus Hook, near Philadelphia, for export overseas. This resolution will direct the Department of Environmental Protection and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to submit a detailed plan addressing spills and identify potential risks of construction and operation. This is a responsible step in providing residents and first responders with the information they need to better understand the construction and operation of this pipeline. I hope you will consider signing on as a co-sponsor of this important measure. |
