MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 15, 2018 11:52 AM
From: Representative Harold A. English
To: All House members
Subject: January 2019 as "Learn a Snow Sport Month" in PA

In the very near future I will be introducing a resolution that will recognize January 2019 as "Learn a Snow Sport Month" in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania’s geography is the backdrop for outdoor recreation and tens of thousands of winter enthusiasts migrate to the Pennsylvania mountains every week to ski and snowboard. There are more than 21 ski resorts in all regions of this Commonwealth and they have a significant economic impact on the communities in which they are located and this Commonwealth as a whole.

Participating in a snow sport provides an opportunity for exercise and friendship that will last a lifetime. Learn a Snow Sport Month encourages children and adults to learn about snow sports by taking lessons from professional instructors. The Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association, along with other states, The Snow Sports Industries of America, the Professional Ski Instructors of America, American Association of Snowboard Instructors, National Ski Areas Association and Cross Country Ski Areas Association have united to offer an affordable “Learn a Snow Sport” program that will open the door to the wonderful world of skiing for many winter enthusiasts throughout the entire season.

We appreciate and thank the dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to protect and support Pennsylvania’s outdoor recreation and help maintain strong winter tourism in Pennsylvania.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution, which I will be introducing today or tomorrow.
