Subject: | Veterans Representation on the Long-Term Care Council |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would add a member of the State Veterans Commission to the Pennsylvania Long-Term Care Council. The State Veterans Commission is made up of members of the major veterans organizations (i.e. American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars) and plays an active role in services to our veterans -- with a particular emphasis on our aging population of veterans. The issue of COVID-19 in our State Veterans Homes has heightened the need for additional involvement by our veterans community. I believe that adding the Chair of the State Veterans Commission or his/her designee to the Long-Term Care Commission would only help to enhance the coordination and care of our senior citizens. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this simple but important piece of legislation. |
