Subject: Resolution Commemorating the 76th Anniversary of V-E Day
 
Senator Stefano and I will be introducing a Resolution commemorating the 76th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, known as “Victory in Europe Day,” or “V-E Day.”

On May 8, 1945, Western Europe, Great Britain, the United States and Canada proclaimed and observed “Victory in Europe Day,” after the formal, unconditional surrender of all German forces on May 7th, taking effect on May 8th. After years of hard-fought war in Europe, spanning several countries and taking hundreds of thousands of young American lives, the defeat of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany was met with international celebration. This important milestone in world history deserves to be remembered and commemorated annually.

We hope you will join us in cosponsoring this important Resolution.
