Subject: Request to Cosponsor - Raising Auto Minimum for Property Damage Liability
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation amending the definition of "financial responsibility" found in Title 75 (Vehicles), Section 1702, which outlines the minimum insurance coverages required for operation of a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania.

Specifically, I am increasing the amount for property damage liability from $5,000 to $9,000. This increased amount is based on changes in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers from 1990, when the current minimums were established in Act 6, to 2012.
