Subject: | Small Games of Chance - Former HB 2644 |
Since the passage of Act 2 of 2012, which made some significant changes to the Small Games of Chance Act, many of us have been contacted by our local non-profit organizations to express their objections to some of these changes. There were some unintended consequences from Act 2 of 2012 on "smaller" organizations that operate small games of chance. In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will give these smaller organizations under the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act exemptions from certain licensing requirements under the Act. Personally, I have heard from several organizations that run a limited Small Games of Chance event each year. The new Act calling for reporting all proceeds, separate bank accounts and background checks is a burden to them. My legislation would exempt organizations without a liquor license, which has small games of chance proceeds less than $10,000 in a calendar year from reporting requirements, having a separate bank account, and submitting background checks for licensure.
