House of Representatives
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 4, 2013 12:14 PM
From: Representative Peter J. Daley
To: All House members
Subject: Co-sponsorship: Repealing Act 2 of 2012

I plan to re-introduce legislation to repeal Act 2 of 2012, which made changes to the Small Games of Chance Act.

My legislation will repeal the changes to the act we adopted last session. As you all are aware, the Governor's Administration delayed the reporting requirements for one year which will give us an opportunity to go back to the drawing board and draft a legislative solution that truly addresses shortcomings to the original act with an eye toward supporting the good works of our community organizations.

We have an opportunity to fix the unintended consequences of this legislation now, before we see organizations in our own district become insolvent or simply find loopholes to get around the law. This session we can work on a new bill that will modernize the act and put in place appropriate accountability safeguards.

I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this legislation. Thank you for your interest and support.
