Subject: | Condolence Resolution for Staff Sergeant Eric Holman |
On January 16, I will introduce a condolence resolution honoring the life of Staff Sergeant Eric Holman, an American hero who paid the supreme sacrifice on August 15, 2012, while serving his country in Afghanistan. Sergeant Holman served in the 82nd Airborne Division and was a member of the Golden Knights United States Army Parachute Team. After finishing his assignment with the Golden Knights, Sergeant Holman decided to join Fort Bragg’s 767th Explosive Ordinance Disposition Battalion on the front lines in Afghanistan. On August 15, 2012, Sergeant Holman was tasked with disarming three roadside bombs. He was killed when the final bomb he was defusing was triggered remotely and exploded. For his bravery and heroism, Sergeant Holman was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal. It is fitting to commend the patriotic and heroic contributions that Sergeant Holman made, and to honor the supreme sacrifice he paid on behalf of this nation and this Commonwealth. |
