Subject: | Household Hazardous Waste Program-Raising the Limit for Certain Counties - Former HB 326 |
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation regarding household hazardous waste collection events in counties with populations of 250,000 or more. My legislation would increase the current cap for county HHW programs from $100,000 limit to $150,000 for the more populated counties that have correspondingly higher costs for such programs. County requests and sources of the funding would allow this increase in the limit without adversely affecting smaller population counties requesting modest funding. Below are the costs of three county HHW programs for July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012 Fiscal Year Submissions of Cost Totals:
If, for some reason, the sources of funding decrease at some future date, the Department of Environmental Protection could proportionately decrease funding for all counties since this is a limit and not a minimum level of funding. Please join me by cosponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
