Subject: Inheritance Tax (Former HB 443)
 
Inheritance taxes place an undue burden on the families of citizens who have passed away. The strong economy of the 1990’s allowed Pennsylvania the opportunity to address several “death taxes.” In 2000, the Governor signed into law a piece of legislation that reduced inheritance taxes. Now is the time to go a step further in reducing and eventually eliminating inheritance taxes.

The legislation I will be reintroducing provides for the phase-out and elimination of all inheritance taxes. Inheritance taxes would be completely eliminated for the estates of decedents dying on or after January 1, 2017.
