House of Representatives
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 15, 2013 12:22 PM
From: Representative Rob W. Kauffman
To: All House members
Subject: Joint Resolution - Legislative District Reductions (Former HB 876)

In the near future, I plan to re-introduce a Joint Resolution that would reduce the number of the Commonwealth’s legislative districts.

Specifically, my legislation would amend the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to reduce the number of legislative districts in a graduated manner. Beginning with the legislative session that commences January 2023, the legislative districts would be divided into 193 representative districts. Thereafter, the reduction in districts would occur as follows: January 2033 – 183 representative districts; January 2043 – 173 representative districts; January 2053 – 163 representative districts; and January 2063 – 153 representative districts.

If you have any questions, please contact Elana Maynard at 705-2004 or via email at emaynard@pahousegop.com.

Thank you.
