| Subject: | Reintroduction of HB1589 - Organ and Tissue Donation |
Your co-sponsorship is requested on legislation that would increase membership on the Governor Robert P. Casey Memorial Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Trust Fund Advisory Committee to allow for input from community health centers and from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). This bill would provide for representation from a community health center that has Federal qualifications and from PennDOT onto the Organ Donation Advisory Committee. This committee meets at least twice a year to review progress in the area of organ and tissue donation in Pennsylvania, recommend education and awareness training programs, recommend priorities in expenditures from the fund and advise the Secretary of Health on matters relating to administration of the fund. I think the addition of a representative of a community health center and PennDOT would provide helpful insight into discussions regarding organ and tissue donation. This bill would be the same as HB 1589 with the following co-sponsors: MYERS , MANN , V. BROWN, CALTAGIRONE , D. COSTA, FABRIZI , GODSHALL, JOSEPH , KIRKLAND, KORTZ, LONGIETT, MURT, M.
