Subject: | Protecting Dogs at Boarding Kennels from Rabies |
Our state Rabies Law requires that all dogs three months of age and older be vaccinated for rabies. Shortly, I will be introducing legislation to require dog owners to provide proof of this rabies vaccination when the dog enters a boarding kennel. Unfortunately, there are situations where dogs co-mingling in boarding kennels get into fights with one another. This bill will help ensure dogs are not endangered by interacting with unvaccinated dogs. My legislation will also ensure the owners of dogs injured in an altercation receive all rabies vaccination records and owner contact information so they can determine whether rabies is a threat to their dog’s health and seek appropriate treatment. |
