Subject: “Life Sciences Day” in Pennsylvania
 
In the very near future, we will be introducing a resolution honoring Tuesday, March 19, 2013 as “Life Sciences Day” in Pennsylvania.

The life sciences industry is a broad community that houses significant financial strength, uniting biotechnology, medical device and diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and research and development institutions. Pennsylvania, a national leader within this industry, is the only state with 13 world-renowned research institutions and ranks among the top six U.S. state employers in three of the four major life science subsectors. A cornerstone in Pennsylvania’s economic foundation, the life science industry employs within the Commonwealth over 79,000 individuals, with total wages exceeding $ 8 billion.
