MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 4, 2013 10:14 AM
From: Representative Brendan F. Boyle
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Supporting the Unification of Ireland

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution supporting the unification of Ireland.

This resolution urges the use of all peaceful action by political leaders to support movement toward the ultimate unification of Ireland by electoral and diplomatic means. Human and civil rights derive "their just powers from the consent of the governed" and are best guaranteed by people freely elected by democratic means to an independent government. The Irish people and those Pennsylvanians of Irish descent deserve the pride and security of a United Ireland after too many years of violence, bloodshed, and division. This resolution will urge the consideration of a path to peace and unity.

Please join me in encouraging the General Assembly to show support of a peacefully unified Ireland.

Introduced as HR334
