MEMORANDUM

Subject: Resolution Recognizing “Eat for Peace Day”

In the near future, I will be re-introducing a resolution recognizing April 11, 2013 as “Eat for Peace Day” in Pennsylvania.

As many of you may remember from my initial introduction of this resolution in 2011 and reintroduction last year, the “Eat for Peace Day” concept evolved from the unique experiences of Mr. Anthony Lucidonio, Jr., who has restaurants in Delaware County, PA and all over the world. Specifically, it was during Mr. Lucidonio’s time in the country of Bahrain that he observed firsthand the phenomenon of healthy and positive relationships being forged between the multinational patrons who dined at his
restaurant, Tony Luke’s.

Once again, following the lead of Mr. Lucidonio’s exportation of this much needed concept to our Commonwealth, it is paramount that we as legislators continue to promote cooperation, understanding, and tolerance between those of differing ethnicities, cultures, and religions. As such, it is with great honor that I recognize the date of April 11, 2013, as “Eat for Peace Day” in Pennsylvania. By continuing to recognize and embrace such a concept, we as human beings can say with the deepest of convictions that we have done our due diligence in making Pennsylvania, if not the world, a much better place to live.

The celebration has included dining in restaurants that feature ethnic cuisine, school children sharing foods from their native lands, and inviting friends and neighbors of a different culture to dine together in your homes and local restaurants across Pennsylvania.
