Subject: Railroad Employee Safety Legislation-Establishing Standards for Drivers Hired by Contract Carriers to Transport Crews
 
I am introducing a package of legislation consisting of 4 bills dealing with the safety of railroad employees.

The third bill deals with ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR DRIVERS HIRED BY CONTRACT CARRIERS TO TRANSPORT RAILROAD CREWS. Passenger contract carriers transport railroad crews in vehicles designed to hold eight persons or less to various locations. This legislation provides for the safe transportation of railroad employees by contract carriers by establishing standards for the drivers employed by the contract carrier.

This legislation was HB 1737 in prior Session 2011-12.


Introduced as HB1311
