MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 3, 2013 02:47 PM
From: Representative Matthew E. Baker
To: All House members
Subject: American Religious History Week resolution

All of us are aware of the influence of religion at the time of the Nation’s founding and throughout its history, as well as the numerous monuments and displays in our public buildings that have some association with this influence. In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to note some of the many instances when religious references have occurred in the public life of the nation. In recognition of this impact, the resolution will designate the week of May 6 through May 13, 2012 as “American Religious History Week” and oppose the removal or alteration of historical monuments and public buildings to eradicate traces of this history.

Introduced as HR306
