Subject: | Designating the day of July, 26 2013 as “Americans with Disabilities Act Awareness Day” in Pennsylvania |
In the very near future, I will be introducing a resolution declaring July 26, 2013 Americans with Disabilities Act day in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law twenty three years ago on July 26, 1990. The Americans with Disabilities Act is a thorough civil rights law which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in the areas of employment, public entities and accommodations, and telecommunications. The Americans with Disabilities Act has motivated individuals with disabilities and allowed them to become more active in society today. My resolution strives to use July 26, as a day to inform the public on the impact of The Americans with Disabilities Act in the Commonwealth. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. Thank you. |
