Subject: | Resolution Celebrating Pennsylvania Adult Day Services Week |
In the very near future, I plan to introduce a resolution which acknowledges the contribution of adult day providers in Pennsylvania and celebrates Pennsylvania Adult Day Services Week as September 15 - September 21, 2013. National Adult Day Services Week was first started in 1983, recognized by the United States Congress and proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan as an opportunity to spotlight adult day centers throughout the country and to educate the public on the benefits provided by adult day centers. Adult day services are a key component of Pennsylvania’s home and community-based care continuum by enabling older adults to remain in their homes rather than be placed in a residential long-term care setting. The number of adult day centers in the Commonwealth has grown from 6 licensed centers in 1980 to approximately 262 centers serving approximately 13,769 older adults. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution. |
