MEMORANDUM

Posted: August 19, 2013 01:09 PM
From: Representative Eddie Day Pashinski
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Commemorating the Week of September 1-7 as "Union Label Week" in Pennsylvania

In the near future I will be introducing a resolution that September 1-7, 2013 be known as “Union Label Week” in Pennsylvania.

Union jobs add considerable value to our state by providing decent wages, establishing safe and healthy work practices, and providing adequate health care and related benefits. Those wages and standards that union jobs provide increase the quality of life for entire communities, adding economic and social stability, and sustain vibrant local business communities.

A stronger community follows where employers and workers establish long-term relationships based on dignity, respect and mutual trust through healthy collective bargaining. When our citizens buy union-made goods and services they are helping to preserve American jobs and strengthen our community.

Please join me in bringing attention to all of these positive benefits resulting from union-made products and services. We ask all Pennsylvanians to seek, ask for, and purchase union-made goods and services and to patronize businesses displaying union shop cards and employing union workers not only for this week but for every week.
