MEMORANDUM

Posted: November 20, 2013 09:38 AM
From: Representative John D. Payne
To: All House members
Subject: Co-Sponsorship Request - Certified Fire Protection Specialist

I am planning to introduce legislation that would amend Title 35 (Health and Safety), Chapter 73 to add Subchapter C.1 regarding Certified Fire Protection Specialists misrepresentation. The new language would state that an individual who is not duly certified as a fire protection specialist by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) may not hold themself out as a certified fire protection specialist with the intent to deceive another person. The Office of the State Fire Commissioner has agreed to obtain and maintain a current list of certified fire protection specialists as provided by the NFPA. A person who violates this subsection shall, upon conviction, pay a fine of not more than $250 for the first offense and for a second or subsequent offense, pay a fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both.

If you have any questions on this proposed legislation, please do not hesitate to contact Representative Payne at jpayne@pahousegop.com or at 787-2684.
