Subject: | Congressional Gold Medal to Honor the 65th Infantry “Borinqueneers” |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution urging Congress to honor the pioneering military service of the 65th Infantry “Borinqueneers” with a Congressional Gold Medal by supporting H.Res. 1726 and S.B. 1174. The 65th Infantry Regiment is a Puerto Rican regiment of the United States Army. The Infantry Regiment participated in World War I, World War II and the Korean War. "The Borinqueneers" is a nickname for the Infantry Regiment derived from the name Borinquen meaning land of the brave lord. Over 62,000 Puerto Ricans joined the military during World War II, and over 43,000 Puerto Ricans served in the Korean War with hundreds of men giving their lives to serve their country. I hope you will join me in honoring the 65th Infantry Borinqueneers and the sacrifices they made by co-sponsoring this resolution. Thank you in advance for your consideration. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact my Harrisburg office at 717-705-1925. |
