House of Representatives
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 24, 2013 01:46 PM
From: Representative Mark B. Cohen
To: All House members
Subject: National Small Business Weekend in Pennsylvania

I plan to introduce a resolution in the near future naming the first weekend of every month as National Small Business Weekend in Pennsylvania.

I am introducing this resolution at the request of the National Small Business Weekend Association, whose mission is to bring recognition to the importance of supporting small businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of the Pennsylvanian economy. Sixty million Americans, who live and work in our neighborhoods, are employed by small businesses.

As you know, I am a strong supporter of initiatives encouraging people to buy American-made products. This resolution promotes the philosophy of buying local, buying American, and encourages businesses to offer more American made products. It is only by bringing family-sustaining jobs back home that we will strengthen our overall economy.

Senator Michael Stack is introducing a similar resolution in the Senate. In addition, please know that on Thursday, December 12, 2013, the Council of the City of Philadelphia adopted Resolution No. 130964 recognizing National Small Business Weekend by unanimous vote of the council members.

If you have any questions about this resolution, please contact Kathy Seidl of my office at 787-4117 or kseidl@pahouse.net.

Thank you.
