Subject: Resolution Recognizing the 2103 NFL Rushing Champion, LeSean McCoy

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the professional and personal accomplishments of Philadelphia Eagle and Harrisburg native, LeSean McCoy.

LeSean “Shady” McCoy began his football career at Bishop McDevitt High School in Dauphin County. During his junior season, “Shady” was named by the Associated Press as the AAAA player of the year in Pennsylvania. Mr. McCoy went on to play college football at the University of Pittsburgh rushing for 2,816 yards in only two seasons, finishing his career as the university’s 4th leading rusher. In 2008, Shady was selected as a second-team All-American for his 21 rushing touchdowns, which were third in the nation and only one behind the two leaders.

In 2009, LeSean McCoy was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the NFL draft. Since his selection by the Eagles, LeSean has been named to the Pro Bowl twice and in 2013, led the entire NFL in rushing yards and total yards from scrimmage, making him the first Eagle to accomplish this feat since Steven Van Buren in 1947.

In addition to his prowess on the football field, “Shady” remains involved in the Harrisburg area and across Pennsylvania through the LeSean McCoy Foundation, which he and his family founded to promote the empowerment of people in communities across the Commonwealth, respecting cultural diversity, and raising funds for ALS research.

Please consider joining me in recognizing the professional and philanthropic contributions of LeSean “Shady” McCoy.
