MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 15, 2014 12:34 PM
From: Representative Mark Mustio
To: All House members
Subject: Recognizing Junior Achievement on its 75th Anniversary

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution in the House of Representatives acknowledging the 75th Anniversary of Junior Achievement in Pennsylvania.

As you may be aware, Junior Achievement (JA) is the world’s largest organization, dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Over 6,000 business, community and parent volunteers participate in the Junior Achievement Program in Pennsylvania. The JA volunteers touch the lives of more than 250,000 students each year in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Junior Achievement takes in public and private school systems in the Commonwealth, preparing our students to be the workers, leaders and educated consumers of tomorrow.

Junior Achievement helps to prepare our young people for the real world. They learn how to generate wealth and effectively manage it and how to create jobs, which makes their communities more robust. Entrepreneurial thinking in the workplace is another component of Junior Achievement. Junior Achievement volunteers have contributed over 5,900,000 hours of their time to impact over 4,424,500 students in nearly 187,300 classrooms in the Commonwealth during the Organization's existence.

I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this Resolution. Thank you.
