MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 23, 2014 11:26 AM
From: Representative Robert F. Matzie
To: All House members
Subject: Protecting Commonwealth Data

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will explicitly prohibit state employees from using non-secured Internet connections while conducting state business. The purpose of this legislation is to protect sensitive data.

Currently there is no law in Pennsylvania on this topic, creating a massive security loophole. By proposing this legislation, I am attempting to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth by making sure state employees are exercising the utmost care when it comes to transmitting sensitive data.

This commonsense piece of legislation will help make every official Commonwealth office safer and more secure.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.

Introduced as HB2041
