MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 29, 2014 10:22 AM
From: Representative Robert F. Matzie
To: All House members
Subject: Expanding the CRIZ Program

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will expand the City Revitalization Improvement Zones (CRIZ) program.

It makes no sense to exclude a number of Pennslyvania cities from this critical program simply because they do not meet an arbitrary population requirement. The Department of Community and Economic Devleopment should have the ability to select communities from a wide applicant pool and determine which Pennsylvanians would most benefit from CRIZ. I see no compelling reason to exclude certain cities from submitting themselves for consideration.

This legislation will ensure that DCED will be able to allocate its resources to those communities that will most benefit from this worthwhile program.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.

Introduced as HB2044
