Subject: | Resolution Supporting H.R. 3930 -- Freezing Any Reduction of Army National Guard Troop Strength and Establishing a National Commission to Review the Structure of the Army |
The primary responsibility of our federal government is the safety and protection of its citizens. This means the federal government and the Commander in Chief in particular are responsible for the safety and welfare of 330 million Americans. During the last several years, turmoil and chaos have spread across many areas of the world. The news media report daily of killings of innocent civilians by dictators. Our enemies are becoming more emboldened. Our friends in the international community question our nation’s resolve to fight the forces of oppression that deny the freedoms and liberties we too often take for granted. With all of this global uncertainty and warmongering by our enemies, President Barack Obama has chosen not only to reduce our capability to protect ourselves, but to make it much more difficult for the National Guard to do its mission, which includes responding to domestic emergencies. Congress has introduced H.R. 3930 (copy attached), which would freeze any reduction of Army National Guard troop strength and establish a national commission to review the structure of the Army. When the House returns to session, we plan to introduce a resolution supporting H.R. 3930. We hope you will join us in sponsoring this resolution. |
