Subject: Tourism Day
 
I am planning to introduce a resolution recognizing the week of May 3-11, 2014, as “National Travel and Tourism Week” and May 5, 2014, as ”Tourism Day” in Pennsylvania.

Tourism is the state’s second-largest industry, supporting over 471,000 jobs and generating $40 billion in total economic impact from 192 million visits by leisure and business travelers. Many small businesses are involved in the tourism industry, and the hotels, restaurants, bed-and-breakfasts and attractions they run constitute an important and vital segment of local economies across the state.

I would appreciate your support on this legislation.
