MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 4, 2014 02:19 PM
From: Representative Angel Cruz
To: All House members
Subject: 2014 Year of the Veteran

In the near future I plan to offer a resolution recognizing 2014 as the Year of the Veteran in Pennsylvania. This recognition would highlight and celebrate the accomplishments of veterans and raise public awareness about issues related to veterans.

There are roughly one million veterans living in Pennsylvania, 88,000 in Philadelphia alone, with service spanning from World War II to the present. Philadelphia is the birthplace of the United States Army, the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, highlighting Pennsylvania's important role in the history of our military.

Veterans of war and peace time alike have selflessly protected our communities and preserved our liberties. Pennsylvania is home to veterans of all races, religions and ethnicities. These men and women deserve to be recognized and thanked for the sacrifices they've made while fighting for the safety and security of our nation.

Please join me in honoring these brave Pennsylvanians by declaring this year as Year of the Veteran. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact my Harrisburg office at 717-705-1925.
