Subject: | Resolution Designating May 13, 2014, as “World Falun Dafa Day” in Pennsylvania. |
In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution designating May 13, 2014, as “World Falun Dafa Day” in Pennsylvania. Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is an advanced self-improvement practice embedded in ancient Chinese culture that seeks to improve the mind, body and spirit. The practice of Falun Dafa has a significant positive effect of stress relief and overall mental and physical health, and allows individuals to let go of destructive tendencies. It was first taught in the city of Changchun, China, in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi and was publicly introduced to Philadelphia in 1998. Free introductory Falun Dafa workshops have been offered in libraries and bookstores across the Commonwealth, with more scheduled in the future. Though Falun Dafa has helped over 100 million people in more than 120 countries improve their health and moral standards, its practice is not tolerated in its country of origin. The practice is currently banned in China over beliefs that it does not align with the ideals of the Chinese government. Yet, many still pursue it as a source of personal strength and spiritual peace. Please consider joining me in recognizing the positive impact that the practice of Falun Dafa has had on individuals across Pennsylvania and around the globe by designating May 13, 2014, as “World Falun Dafa Day” in Pennsylvania. |
