MEMORANDUM

Posted: August 5, 2014 10:05 AM
From: Representative Brad Roae
To: All House members
Subject: School District PSERS Funding

I will soon introduce legislation to give school districts the $70 million in legislative line items the Governor vetoed. The money would average about $140,000 per school district to help pay their PSERS costs.

The legislature has about 3 months of operating costs in reserve funds. The school districts have about 2 months of reserve funds. Rather than attempting to override the Governor's veto or amending the budget or having a stand alone bill to restore the legislative funding, I am proposing we give that money to the school districts. The money would be distributed using the same method as the PSERS line item in the budget.

I would greatly appreciate your co-sponsorship of this legislation.
