Subject: | Resolution designating the Month of September 2014 as "Emergency Preparedness Month" in Pennsylvania |
Each year, the President of the United States proclaims the month of September as “National Emergency Preparedness Month" to stress the importance of strengthening the security and resiliency of our Nation through systemic preparation for the full range of hazards threatening the United States in the 21st century, including natural disasters, cyber-attacks, pandemic diseases, and acts of terrorism. The Commonwealth, and her communities throughout the State, annually observe September as “Emergency Preparedness Month” in Pennsylvania to ensure that our residents and the townships, boroughs, cities, and counties in which they live, take the steps necessary to ready for any disaster -- man-made or natural. In addition, this Resolution urges residents to observe “Emergency Preparedness Month,” encourages them to visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency websites, and to utilize additional resources to learn how they can become prepared for emergencies. Therefore, it is with these reasons in mind that I am introducing this Resolution. If you have any questions, please contact my office at (717) 787-3480. |
