Subject: Resolution designating October 2014, as “Safe Eye Surgery Month” in Pennsylvania
 

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution that will designate October 2014 as “Safe Eye Surgery Month” in Pennsylvania.

My resolution will recognize the important role that ophthalmologist physicians play in the delicate surgery of the eyes. It will also recognize the patient safety work of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in developing a registry to enable ophthalmologists throughout the country and here in Pennsylvania to statistically review their own care and compare it to peer physicians. These efforts will work to ensure our constituents continue to receive the most safe and best eye surgery available.

Please join me in declaring October 2014 as “Safe Eye Surgery Month” in Pennsylvania.
