Subject: Condolence Resolution Honoring Harry Weiland

In the near future we will be introducing a Condolence Resolution honoring Harry Weiland, a member of the elite Alamo Scouts, a special forces Army unit in the Pacific during World War II. The Alamo Scouts performed more than 100 missions for the U.S. Sixth Army, and not a single man in the 127-person unit was killed. Harry earned many medals in the service including the Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge Special Forces Tab, Silver Star with Oak Leaf, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf plus V for Valor, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with four campaign stars, American Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, Japan Occupation Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal plus two stars, Philippine Independence Medal, Army Meritorious Unit Citation and Rifle, Carbine Bar, and Machine Gun and Pistol Medals. He was eventually inducted into the Soldiers and Sailors Hall of Valor. Mr. Weiland, of Murrysville, passed away on August 21, 2014 at the age of 89.

Please join us in honoring Mr. Weiland by co-sponsoring this resolution.
