House of Representatives
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 25, 2014 04:15 PM
From: Representative Stephen Barrar
To: All House members
Subject: POW/MIA Chair of Honor

On October 1st before the close of business, I plan to introduce a very important and timely resolution that will go a long way in recognizing and remembering our American POW/MIAs.

The resolution I will be submitting will direct that the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives in consultation with the Capitol Preservation Committee, prominently place a POW/MIA “Chair of Honor” in the Main Capitol Rotunda area during the days surrounding National POW/MIA Day and Veterans Day.

In addition, the chair will be placed in other appropriate House of Representatives locations the remainder of each year and encourages all public and private venues to join the House of Representatives in this fitting endeavor.

It is important to note that Rolling Thunder, Inc. has spearheaded this great effort so much so, that their efforts have resulted in over two hundred chairs being placed in less than 18 months.

The Senate will be considering the same identical resolution for this important and timely matter.

Please consider joining me Rolling Thunder Inc. and the Senate of Pennsylvania in sponsoring this very important resolution to remember and pay tribute to the more than 91,000 servicemen and women who are unaccounted for from the wars and armed conflicts the United States has been involved in since World War I.
