MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 7, 2014 02:36 PM
From: Representative Kate Harper
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution honoring Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille

Very shortly, I plan to introduce a resolution honoring the life and career of Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille, as he will soon be retiring from the bench of the Supreme Court, where he has served for twenty-one years.

In his role as Chief Justice, Ron Castille has worked tirelessly, personally authoring scores of opinions while also executing the duties of Chief Administrator of the Pennsylvania Courts. Before to his election to the Supreme Court in 1993, he served the citizens of Philadelphia for nearly twenty years in the District Attorney’s Office, including four as the District Attorney. And, prior to embarking on this distinguished career of service on the bench and at the bar, Chief Justice Castille served his country in combat with extraordinary bravery and honor. His valor and personal sacrifice have been commemorated through the bestowal of numerous honors and awards, including two Purple Hearts.

For these reasons, it is my honor to introduce a resolution honoring Chief Justice Castille’s extraordinary service to his country and to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Please note this legislation will be introduced on 10/8/2014.
Thank you
