| Subject: | Lifeline Scholarship Program |
| In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that creates the Lifeline Scholarship Program. This program will make scholarships available to families living in the Commonwealth’s lowest-achieving school districts. Consistent with Governor-Elect Shapiro’s comments of support for Lifeline Scholarships, this legislation will give more children attending low-performing school districts the opportunity to attend a school that better meets their needs. Under this legislation, parents with children in grades 1-12 who reside within the attendance area of a district school in the bottom of performance metrics based on state testing would be eligible to receive a scholarship. Lifeline Scholarships can only be used for education expenses associated with the new education instruction. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation, which will send an educational lifeline to the thousands of Pennsylvanian students trapped in our lowest-performing schools.
